Honda has added a compact SUV in its product line-up with intent of capitalising on the ever-growing SUV demand in the country. Built on the Mobilio platform, the BR-V was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2016.
Honda BR-V is made strong with new ACE body structure and poses a bold image on the road with its stylish exteriors. Honda BR-V is available in five variants - E, S, V, V CVT and the top variant VX with leather package. Honda BRV is accessible in 5 different colours - Alabaster Silver Metallic, Carnelian Red Pearl, Golden Brown Metallic, Orchid White Pearl, Taffeta White.
Honda BR-V is 4453mm long, 1735mm wide, 1666mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2662 mm. The BR-V sits quite high above the ground giving it a ground clearance of 210mm. The Honda BR-V exteriors pose a bold and classy image on the road with a solid wing front face and projector headlamps. The sporty 16-inch alloy wheels, rear combination lamps with LED light guide and glossy metallic colour combinations for the body panels leave a long-lasting on-road image.
The Honda BR-V interiors highlights a 3D speedometer with a multi-information display, steering-mounted audio controls, paddle shifter lever below the steering wheel, automatic air conditioner with AC vents at the front and second roof AC vents for efficient cooling. The seven-seat combination with flat foldable second and third row seats provides flexibility for interior space utilization.
The engine options being offered are the 1.5-litre Earth Dreams i-DTEC diesel engine and the proven 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine. The four-cylinder turbo-diesel develops 99bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. The 1.5-litre i-VTEC is offered with a six-speed manual gearbox as well as a CVT automatic option. The 118bhp petrol engine develops 145Nm of torque. The diesel engine is expected to deliver 21.9kmpl while the petrol will give 15.4kmpl (ARAI).The 6-speed manual transmission is used in both petrol and diesel versions, and the CVT is available only in the petrol variant.
The all new BR-V sets a high standard in care and safety with its exclusive ACE body structure that enhances self-protection while mitigating damage to other vehicles in the event of a collision. It also comes with pre-tensioner seat belts and digital immobilizer with anti-theft alarm.
The braking system of Honda BR-V features disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The ABS with EBD is used as a standard in all variants except the petrol E variant. The body shell is made strong with ACE body structure and front dual airbags are introduced in all variants for complete safety of the occupants.
The top variant of BR-V comes with keyless entry and push start/stop button. The dashboard gets Bluetooth audio with hands-free telephone and automatic climate control system. For the passengers at the backseat, BR-V gets a second-row roof AC vent. The steering comes with tilt adjustment and has mounted audio controls. BR-V comes with paddle shifters which aren?t much necessary in this car but is a first-in-class feature.
The drive quality of Honda BR-V is enhanced with electric power steering, and easy accessibility to control lever of acceleration, clutch and brake, assuring stress-free long drives.
