Toyota Vios India launch in 2018

Toyota is planning to launch its Vios in India by mid-2018. The most offering cars from the carmaker, the Innova and the Fortuner that on average offer 6,000 and 2,000 units per month, yet it has never had accomplishment with sedans or hatchbacks in India.

With the new Toyota Vios, the company needs to offer a premium yet with all the DNA of Toyota built into the sedan. The Toyota Vios is a crisp breath of air among the sedan and hatchback lineup of Toyota in India. The Etios and Etios Liva are boxy and more serious looking cars and lacked the character that we Indian love so much - luxurious, fully-loaded, road presence and fuel efficient. Space and comfort, however, are quite impressive. The cabin is wide and the front seats are enormous. And there's plenty of legroom and width at the rear as well.

The Vios is shorter than the Honda City with a length of 4,420mm as against the latter's 4,442mm, and the City has the longer wheelbase too. But like its sister car, the Etios, the Vios is wider at 1,700mm, and that gives it an advantage.

From outside, Toyota Vios looks sharp and aggressive; particularly the headlamp and grille are present day and are in accordance with the present Toyota's design language for its cars. The air intakes are sporty with their large anvil-shaped design, which is done elegantly in dark. The prominent crease lines run smoothly from the front wheel arch to the rear section of the sedan.

The Vios will come powered by a 108hp adaptation of the 1.5-litre petrol it currently sells in India. This DOHC 16-valve motor will get double VVT-I or Toyota's continuously variable valve timing, higher compression pistons and a more aggressive fuel delivery system. This should permit the Vios to appreciate solid execution, the muscular responses of the engine; something to look forward to.

The diesel version, however, hasn't been closed down for India yet. Toyota could present the car with its 88hp 1.4 D4D engine, currently under the hood of the Corolla.
