India-spec Skoda Kodiaq engine details leaked

Skoda has revealed the new Kodiaq SUV in Berlin. The new India-bound Skoda Kodiaq SUV will come to India by September 2017.

The car is India-bound and is expected to be launched here next month. It is Skoda's first big SUV and sits right on top of a new SUV line-up that the Czech automaker will present throughout the following couple of years.

It might look forcing at first look, however look somewhat longer and you'll soon understand that is all down to shrewd styling signals; it's not so much that huge. With a length of 4,697mm, width of 1,882mm and a wheelbase of 2.7m, it's very conservative, and that is something Skoda is pleased with, because that should make it easier to live with as a family car. It gets 190mm of ground clearance and can wade through 300mm of water, which again, is not proper off-roader stuff, but will be adequate for most.

India-bound Skoda Kodiaq figures out how to look forcing enough on account of its aggressive grille and headlamp treatment, large wheel curves and hefty stance, yet in addition to somewhat sporty with a gently tapering roof line and optional 20-inch wheels. It acquires a considerable measure of signs from the Skoda Superb, including a thick shoulder line, heavy sculpting on the boot, and intricate, angular LED headlamps and tail-lamps inspired by Czech crystal.

It appears that Kodiaq will be offered in India with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. This is a similar engine being offered in the Volkswagen Tiguan however here it will deliver 147bhp/340Nm when contrasted with the previous 141bhp/340Nm. The main gearbox on offer is a seven-speed DSG. This engine alternative appears to be logical considering that the Tiguan and the Kodiaq are underpinned by the MQB platform and produced in the same factory in Aurangabad.

The Kodiaq will be an essential car for the automaker as this is their first huge SUV in the exceptional section of the market. It is required to be priced on par with the compact luxury SUVs and will be charged as a greater and feature loaded alternative to the likes of  the cars from Audi, Mercedes, BMW and Volvo
