If you know about Volkswagen Up, then Taigun is no new. Volkswagen Taigun, the compact SUV, will be based on the Volkswagen impressive MQB (Modularer Querbaukasten) platform. The platform, in itself, ensures a lot about any car by Volkswagen. It hopes to get descent market share in the emerging Indian market on this segment.
The headlamps are sharp and remarkable with integrated LED daytime running lights. Taiguns rugged look can be attributed to plastic claddings across its entire perimeter on the outside. Roof-rails further add to its rugged looks. The car exteriors are assertive which may offer a tough competition to Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster. On the interior, Taigun is simplified with cosy interiors.
Probably, VW Taigun will come with 1.0 litre 3 cylinder turbocharged engine generating a maximum power of 110 BHP. Transmission should have both manual and automatic options. In addition to standard features in this segment, the option to choose between two wheel drive and four wheel drive will be a grand slam that Volkswagen should offer on the car.
All said, the snazzy and sporty Taigun is expected to launch in India towards the end of 2017 with an expected price in the range of 7 12 lakh.
