Lexus NX300h launches in India

Lexus has brought its NX300h to India, with prices likely to start at about Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The smallest offering from the manufacturer is available in two variants - the entry-level Luxury trim and the top-spec F-Sport variant.

The bookings for the NX 300h have just started and deliveries will start next year. Fortunately, India has received the NX 300h in its refreshed avatar, which was uncovered at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show.

The NX depends on the new MC platform and offers a couple of segments with Toyota's hugely successful RAV4 SUV. Safety kit on the hybrid SUV incorporates eight airbags, ABS and a vehicle stability control programme.

From inside, the Lexus carries forward the busy design scheme with the contoured centre console and an array of buttons and switches. Being a Lexus, the NX is luxurious and hence the high quality leather upholstery is standard. And along with it, the bells and whistles as well. Steering mounted sound controls, three-zone atmosphere control and a great display screen are all standard. The Lexus NX is small yet there is sufficient space for all the five tenants inside and the power customizable front seats make it much more comfortable.

The Lexus NX will be offered in the 300h setup which is hybrid. It accompanies a 2.5-litre inline four cylinder petrol engines that works in consonance with an electric motor with a combined output of 194bhp of power and comes mated to a CVT automatic gearbox. The NX will be offered in two trims - the F Sport and Luxury and we can expect a price tag of Rs 60 lakhs to Rs 65 lakhs.

The Lexus NX300h's higher asking price compared to rivals like the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLC is due to the fact that it has been brought to India as a CBU. Dealers had begun taking bookings for an amount of Rs 5 lakh at the start of the month; however deliveries are expected in March 2018.
