India-bound 2018 Renault Duster revealed

Renault has taken the wraps off the heavily updated Duster SUV. The new-gen Duster will make its way to India as well once it goes on sale in the international market.

Renault's version of the Duster is sold in countries such as India, Russia, and Brazil among others, while the Dacia version is primarily sold in Europe.

The Renault Duster gets unpretentious changes from its Dacia partner. In advance, the shape of the grille is unique - it still carries the wider stance but is a bit taller and merges into the front bumper neatly. A vast Renault logo sits in the middle, encompassed by unpretentious chrome bits on its side. The Renault Duster also gets LED daytime running lights and LED inserts for its tail-lamps. The alloy wheel design is slightly different and looks more upmarket, as expected. At the back, the new Renault Duster gets chrome trim for the license plate as well.

From inside, the cabin is fresh with latest elements like the dashboard layout, infotainment screen, and upgraded rectangular air-vents on the dash. There are a plethora of storage places all around and the cabin has a better soundproofing than before, says Renault. There are highlights like vertical-height seat adjustment, automatic climate control, keyless entry, new 2.8-litre under-seat stowage tray, remote engine start and blind-spot warning offered with the new Duster. The boot space is 478liters that can be stretched out to 1623litres.

Powering the Duster is a similar pair of petrol and diesel motors. The petrol engines are - 115bhp 1.6-litre SCe and a 145bhp 2.0-litre unit (also gets 4x4) - accessible with either a five-speed manual or a CVT. Meanwhile, the diesel is the same 1.5-litre dCI with a power output of either 90bhp or 110bhp. The 110bhp guise gets a 4x4 and an option of a DCT transmission. There is a large group of off-road hardware available as well.

The India launch of the new Renault Duster could still be some time away. And that's got to do with Renault's positioning of the recently launched Captur crossover, which sits simply above current Duster in Renault's India line-up.
