Volvo XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid India launch on September 14

Swedish automaker Volvo has scheduled the XC90 Excellence T8 plug-in hybrid’s launch on 14th of September 2016. The SUV will join the sparsely populated club of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) in India.

The XC90 hybrid is powered by a 320hp 2.0-litre, supercharged four-cylinder petrol engine. The engine powers the front wheels that combines with an 87hp electric motor driving the rear wheels to bring a total output to 407hp. Power is transmitted to all four wheels through the 8-speed ‘Geartronic' automatic transmission system. The SUV comes with three drive modes namely - Pure, Hybrid and Power.

There is also a 25hp starter motor/generator between the petrol engine and gearbox which assists from time to time to help smoothen the transition between the different drive methods and fill any torque gaps. Volvo also claims an all-electric range of 40km for its petrol-hybrid SUV.

The premium designed SUV comes equipped with power-adjustable, Nappa leather-upholstered seats with the massage function along with heating and ventilation, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system

XC90 also gets a beverage cooler and the ‘excellence console’ – a rear seat environment control interface that can be used to adjust the heating and angle of your seat and even the temperature of the cup holders.

The SUV will be a direct import and deliveries can be expected in 4-5 months from the time of booking.
