Volvo V90 Cross Country Finally Launched in India at Rs 60 Lakh

Swedish carmaker Volvo has launched the V90 Cross Country at Rs 60 lakh(All India ex-showroom). It is the first ever estate from the company that has gone on sale in India.

The newly launched vehicle is indeed the third Cross Country model to be introduced in the country after the V40 and the S60 iterations.

The V90 Cross Country in India gets a 2-litre diesel engine in the D5 spec that makes 235 bhp. This incidentally is also more powerful than the S90 and the XC90. The V90 Cross Country also gets all-wheel-drive as standard and the air ride suspension as regular too.

The new Volvo V90 Cross Country is also extremely well sprung and comfortable when it comes to ride quality, which again will be a feature that a more mature audience will appreciate. In terms of ground clearance, the V90 Cross Country stands tall at 210mm, which is more than the likes of the Audi Q5 or even the Tata Hexa.

It comes mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and offers four driving modes - eco, comfort, rough road and dynamic. The vehicle also gets an all-wheel drive system.

From interior, Volvo V90 Cross Country gets interesting shades of amber, maroon brown or charcoal-coloured leather with mesh aluminium trim. The dashboard gets unique vertical air-con slats with adjustments and a large tablet-like infotainment system. Moreover, it gets cooled front seats which offer massage function and allows electric adjustment for lumbar, lateral and thigh support.

Volvo V90 Cross Country also offers acres of space in the rear and will work well with customers who are looking for that additional legroom but, again, do not want to buy an SUV.

The V90 Cross Country acquires features like Parking assist, lane assist, Blind Spot Information System, hill-start assist, City Safety, hill-descent control and 7 airbags. It also gets a semi-autonomous driving feature - adaptive cruise control. Adaptive cruise control uses forward-looking radar to detect the speed and distance of the vehicle ahead of it, and drives the car accordingly.

The newly launched model competes against the likes of Mercedes-Benz GLE 250d in India and the Range Rover Evoque in the HSE Dynamic variant.
