Volkswagen has launched its first compact sedan, the Ameo in India on 5th June 2016. The car is priced at Rs 5.24 lakh for the base Trendline trim, going up to Rs 7.06 lakh for the Highline trim (Ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Ameo is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to 5-speed manual transmission. All three variants of the compact sedan - come equipped with ABS and dual front airbags as standard. The Ameo comes with first-in-class features like the rain-sensing wipers and cruise control. Car will be manufactured locally at the company's Pune plant.
