Volkswagen has launched the much-awaited diesel version of Ameo. The car price ranges from Rs 6.33 lakh to Rs 9.32 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Ameo is powered by 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder TDI engine which develops 110PS of power at 4000rpm and 250Nm of torque at 1500-3000rpm. The TDI engine is mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and an optional 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox offering fuel efficiency of 21.73kmpl. On the other hand, 1.2-litre petrol engine is a 3-cylinder motor making 75PS of power and 110Nm of peak torque offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox.   

Additional features include cruise control, static cornering lights, ESP & hill hold control (DSG only), rain sensing wipers and touchscreen infotainment system with MirroLink. The compact diesel sedan is available in three trim levels – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. On the safety front, all variants are comming up with dual airbags as standard.

The Ameo’s diesel automatic rivals are Maruti Dzire and Tata Zest.
