Toyota motor is all set to launch new generation Prius in January 2017

Japanese automotive manufacturer Toyota is all set to launch the new Prius in January 2017. The old petrol-hybrid sedan has been on sale in Indian market since 2010.

New Prius is based on Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) modular platform. This platform has a lower centre of gravity and an increased structural rigidity, thus improving ride and handling of the hybrid. The new Prius measures 60mm longer, 15mm wider and 20mm lower than the older car.

Sedan comes loaded with the futuristic instrument cluster. It holds a digital speedometer, touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple Car Play, Android Auto and MirrorLink function. Whereas, dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, cruise control and automatic climate control, airbags, an electronic stability programme with emergency braking all comes as standard in Prius.

Toyota's Prius is powered by 1.8 litre four-cylinder petrol engine that has been paired with an AC synchronous motor. The engine is tuned for better ride and efficiency. This new generation sedan will be imported as a CBU with no direct rival in India as yet.

Prius is expected to come in a price range of around Rs 35-40 lakh (ex-showroom).
