2017 Nissan Micra review

With an endeavor to revive its product lineup in India, Nissan India has introduced the new Nissan Micra 2017 facelift in the country.

The 2017 Nissan Micra has been launched in India for ₹5.99 lakh. This is a model year update for the hatchback and comprises a mildly updated feature list and some changes to the cabin trim.

The Micra is now offered only with a full black trim with a dual tone setup for the dashboard, door cards and of course, the seats. To continue with the sporty theme, Nissan has fitted the 2017 Micra with orange accents around the music system and the AC, door arm rests and around the gear lever.

In India, we only get the updated version of the fourth-gen Micra. However, the Japanese automatic is also considering the new generation model for Indian market. The new model is likely to come late next year.

For 2017, the new micra receive minor cosmetic updates along with a host of new features. The facelifted version gets rear parking camera and sensors, automatic rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps and several added equipment.

One of the highlighted features is Rain sensing wipers. It’s a small update for the hatchback, but one that will surely include to both its comfort factor as well as its premium factor. These come on when it begins to rain, thus allowing you to keep your eyes on the road. The Micra is one of the first vehicles in that segment to get this feature.

Talking of the new steering wheel, Nissan has updated the steering wheel of the Micra by replacing the earlier three-spoke unit with a much larger one. The unit now gets audio controls as well buttons to control the telephone function. This is very similar to the wheel found in the 2017 Sunny.

Automatic headlamps with follow-me-home function allow the Micra’s head lights to switch on automatically and even have a follow-me-home or as Nissan has termed it, lead-me-to-car function. This function keeps the headlights on for around 30 seconds when the car is switched off. There is moreover a button on the key fob to switch on the lights from a distance.

The new Micra will continue to compete against the Maruti Swift, Honda Jazz, Hyundai Grand i10 and other B-segment hatchbacks.
