Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition Launched at Rs 10.75 lakh

Skoda India has launched Monte Carlo edition of its mid-sized sedan Rapid priced at Rs 10.75 lakh (ex-showroom).

The new Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition comes with new styling and a host of updated features like the revised grille, new alloys and a boot-lid spoiler among others. Skoda's Monte Carlo models were introduced to shell out homage to the carmaker's Monte Carlo racing tradition.

Globally, the new Monte Carlo trim has been available with the Citigo, Rapid and the Fabia for a while now, but this is the first time that Skoda has introduced this special edition package in India. Bookings for the Monte Carlo started early this month.

The car is offered in two dual-colour options: red with black roof and white with black roof, the Monte Carlo is positioned at the top end of the Rapid range and features styling upgrades over the standard car.

On the outside, you get black radiator grille, black mirror housings and a black tailgate spoiler to name a few. The car also features 16-inch alloys and Monte Carlo badges on each of the B-pillars.

From inside, the 3-spoke flat bottom steering wheel is covered in black perforated leather and red stitching. The gearstick also comes in black leather with red stitch lines. In line with the theme, the leather seats also feature a black/red design with grey vertical strips. Rounding off the updates, Skoda has fitted ribbed stainless steel pedals and graphics on the otherwise standard instrument cluster.

Under the hood, the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition's engines come from the regular Rapid sedan. The car will be powered by the 103 bhp 1.6-litre MPI petrol motor and the 108 bhp 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine. Transmission duties will be handled by Skoda's trusted DSG gearbox in the diesel model and 6-speed trip tronic transmission in the petrol.

In terms of features, the top-spec Monte Carlo edition features ABS, daytime running lights, two airbags, parking sensors, a multifunctional display, rain sensing wipers, cooled glove box and a 6.5-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The base petrol powered Rapid Monte Carlo costs Rs 10.75 lakh while the top-spec automatic variant comes in at Rs 11.97 lakh. The diesel Rapid Monte Carlo, on the other hand, starts at Rs 12.46 lakh while the top-spec automatic is priced at Rs 13.57 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
