Maruti Suzuki's S-Cross may get 1.5-litre petrol engine

Maruti Suzuki introduced the premium crossover S-Cross last in august 2015. The automaker is offering two diesel engine options a 1.3-litre DDiS 200 and 1.6-litre DDiS 320 as of now.

Though S-Cross is performing comparably better in the auto market, Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch a petrol version of S-Cross in India. The S-Cross will likely receive the 1.5-litre M15 petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard and a 4-speed automatic gearbox as an optional. Except engine, the company has no plans to give any changes in interiors or styling of the car. The new ‘M15’ petrol engine will be a 1490cc, 4-cylinder engine that delivers 100PS of power and 133Nm of torque.

The company has not officially confirmed its future plans for a petrol powered S-Cross. For now, the crossover is available with a 1.3-litre diesel engine that develops 90PS of power and 200Nm of torque, along with a powerful 1.6-litre diesel engine that makes 120PS of power and 320Nm of torque. These engines are offered with 5-speed and 6-speed manual gearboxes respectively.

Prices of S-Cross starts at Rs 8.03 lakh and go up to 12.03 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
