2017 Nissan Micra launching tomorrow

Nissan India will launch the 2017 version of the Micra on June 2, 2017. The company has recently released a teaser image of the facelifted Micra on its social media channels.

The teaser image says ‘It can sense rain’. This text is a clear give-away that the updated Micra will be equipped with rain sensing wipers. The company has taken this marketing approach as the monsoon is expected to begin in the next few days.

Some new features like automatic rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and a new infotainment system with reverse parking camera are likely to be added.

It will remain mechanically unchanged and will continue to be offered with the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine and the 1.5-litre diesel engine. While the petrol engine produces 77PS of power and 104Nm of torque, the diesel produces 64PS and 160 Nm. Both the engines are coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission, while the petrol variant also gets the option of a CVT.

The new Micra will be the second car to be introduced by the company this year, following the launch of the 2017 Nissan Terrano.

The fifth-generation Micra will fall in the premium hatchback segment and will compete with cars like Grand i10, Honda Jazz and the Maruti Baleno
