It has strong chassis to make up for the roof. Fabric roof is electronically controlled and can be deployed in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 30 kmph. However, strengthening and roof-folding mechanism has added to the weight of the convertible which is about 115 kg more than its predecessor. It gets signature circular headlamps with daytime running LEDs, chrome outlining on grille, sporty alloy wheels, 6.5 inch infotainment system and dual airbags with ABS.

New Mini Convertible is powered by four-cylinder 2.0 L turbo petrol engine producing power of 189bhp and peak torque of 280 Nm. Petrol engine is paired to six-speed automatic gearbox.
