Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the performance version of its most popular hatchback, Baleno RS on March 3, 2017. It was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 and will compete with Volkswagen Polo GT and Fiat Abarth Punto.

Mechanically, it will only be offered in the top Alpha trim and will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 102PS of power and a peak torque of 150Nm at 1700-4500rpm. Both engines will feature a five-speed manual transmission.

The hatchback will come equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels and disc brakes on all four wheels. It also gets a sporty designed rear and front bumpers, and a unique front grille design.

The standard Baleno was launched in October 2015 that offers two engine options – a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 84PS of power and 115Nm of torque, and a 1.3-litre diesel that pumps out 75PS of power and 190Nm of torque

Baleno RS is expected to come in a price range of Rs 8 to 8.50 lakh (ex-showroom)
