Maruti Suzuki India has launched the updated version of Alto 800 (facelift), with a starting price of 2.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new generation Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 arrived in the Indian market in 2012. The updated Alto 800 comes equipped with new bigger front grille and refreshed headlamps, new Aero Edge Design, new mojito green and cerulean blue exteriors colours and a larger lower grille.

Maruti Suzuki is also offering driver side airbag as an option from the base trim, but there is no ABS option. The interiors of Alto 800 come with new seat upholstery, additional features include rear bottle holder, co-driver side map pocket, rear door child lock and co-driver side ORVM as standard.

Under the hood, the Alto 800 is powered by the same 796cc three-cylinder engine that develops 47bhp at 6000rpm and 69Nm of torque at 3500rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission. The car now delivers an ARAI-certified fuel-efficiency of 25.17kpl. Maruti claims that its engineers have developed an improved engine architecture tuned for enhanced driving pleasure and excellent fuel economy, which makes the Alto 800 facelift 9 percent more fuel efficient. Essentially, the engine provides more torque at low RPM, allowing lesser gear changes. There are specially coated piston and ring set that reduce frictional losses and increases engine life.

Alto 800 will rival the Hyundai Eon, Renault Kwid and the upcoming Datsun Redigo.
