Mahindra and Mahindra have introduced a six-speed automatic gearbox in the recently launched 1.99-litre diesel-engine version of the XUV500, which is currently being sold only in the Delhi-NCR. The company had introduced smaller engine in Delhi due to the ongoing ban on diesel cars with engines capacity of 2,000cc and above. The automatic transmission is available in three variants of the XUV500 – W6 AT, W8 AT and W10 AT.

Under the hood, the XUV500 gets a downsized 1997cc four-cylinder diesel engine, which develops 140bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual and an optional automatic transmission.

The XUV500 1.99 litre automatic offers safety features like - airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP) and Hill Hold control. The top-end trim also features electric sunroof with anti-pinch and logo-projection lamps on ORVMs. Add to this, the car also offers a touchscreen infotainment system with USB/GPS/Bluetooth connectivity, 6-way power adjustable driver's seat, tilt power steering, electric foldable and adjustable ORVMs and projector headlamps.
