Mahindra has stopped the production of Verito Vibe due to poor sales

The Indian SUV maker Mahindra & Mahindra has stopped the production of its hatchback, the Verito Vibe, due to poor sales. The Verito Vibe was struggling in market for quite some time to achieve a decent sales figures. Last year M&M was able to sell only 619 units of Verito Vibe and only 32 units have been sold in the first five months of this fiscal year. The production, however, is expected to remain suspended till the stocks are cleared out from dealerships across the country.

The Vibe was launched by Mahindra back in 2013 and was based on the Verito sedan. Available in a total of three variants, the car is powered by a 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine from Renault that produces 65PS of power at 4,000rpm and 160Nm of peak torque at 2,000rpm

On the other hand, the sales of sedan version of vibe are positive till now, primarily due to demand in the commercial segment. Last financial year, sales of Verito increased 52 percent to 2776 units, as against 1823 units sold in 2014-15. The company sold 1317 units during April-August 2016, registering 10 percent increase from the same period last year.
