Mahindra launches Scorpio with ‘Intelli-Hybrid’ tech at Rs 12.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Navi Mumbai)

Mahindra has introduced its all new ‘Intelli-Hybrid’ system in the Scorpio. The new hybrid system is available on all manual transmission variants using 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that makes 120PS and 280Nm of torque. The Intelli-Hybrid Scorpio is priced at Rs 12.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Navi Mumbai) for the top spec S10 2WD variant.

Mahindra claims that the Intelli-Hybrid system reduces fuel consumption by up to 7 percent, thanks to features such as auto start-stop function, brake energy recuperation, a larger capacity battery and a starter motor which functions as both an alternator and a motor that provides a mild electrical boost in certain driving conditions. As of now, the Scorpio has a claimed mileage of 15.4kmpl which is expected to improve further to around 16.5kmpl with this technology in place.

The new system functions in a way similar to Maruti’s SHVS mild-hybrid technology providing electrical assistance while accelerating, brake-energy regeneration and start-stop technology.
