Mahindra has launched their two of the most selling SUV Scorpio and XUV500 with new 1.99 liter m-Hawk diesel engine. This launch is Mahindra's strategy to tackle the ban on registration of diesel vehicles with 2000cc (2.0liter) engines or above in the Delhi NCR region.

The new 1.99liter engine now develops 140bhp in the XUV500 and 120bhp in the Scorpio. The newly powered XUV500 and Scorpio are only available in Delhi and rest of NCR regions for sale. 

The changes came in effect due to Supreme Court announcement In December 2015 about its decision to ban on registration of diesel vehicles having engine displacement of 2000cc or higher in Delhi and NCR. The ban on such registrations shall remain in effect until 31 March 2016.
