Jaguar launches 300bhp petrol engine for XE, XF and F-Pace

Jaguar has extended the accessibility of its new Ingenium petrol engine, a 2.0-litre unit producing 296bhp and 295lb ft of torque, to the XE, XF and F-Pace. The 2-litre four-cylinder unit produces 400Nm of torque for speedy acceleration.

In the Jaguar XF, the new engine delivers 0-100kmph in 5.6 seconds whereas for the XE sports sedan, the new engine delivers quicker figures, with the 0-100kmph sprint taking only 5.5 seconds.

With the latest engine, Jaguar claims fuel economy of 37mpg for the F-Pace, 40mpg for the XF and 41.5mpg for the XE.

The engine profits from the newest Jaguar Land Rover technology, counting twin-scroll turbos with ceramic ball bearings to trim down friction and a high flow compressor wheel for improved performance. The new engine is manufactured at the Engine Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton, UK.

The addition of the new engine is the latest in a series of enhancements to the XE, XF and the F-Pace. Earlier this year the variety of Ingenium engines expanded to include 200bhp (XE and XF only) and 250bhp versions of the 2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. A 240bhp 2-litre four-cylinder twin turbo diesel was also introduced.

While the cars with the new 300PS Ingenium petrol engine are now available in the UK, this new option is expected to arrive the Indian shores as well in the near future.
