Hyundai is ready to launch new IONIQ that features Electric, Plug-In Hybrid and Hybrid Powertrains

Hyundai teased and introduced its alternative-fuel car as Hyundai IONIQ. It is said to be the first car in the world that will have all three alternative fuel options packed under one single body. These will be electric (EV), plug-in gasoline/electric hybrid (PHEV) and full gasoline/electric hybrid (HEV) powertrains. Hyundai will initially launch the car in it's home market, Korea in January 2016. Thereafter they plan to showcase it at Geneva and New York motor show.

The name “IONIQ” is in itself very special. Word “ion” is electrically charged atom depicting the car’s clever combination of all three fuel alternative options. Words “IQ” depicts uniqueness that sets it apart from other Hyundai range of cars. It is based on all new platform designed to facilitate all 3 Powertrains.

Once launched it will compete with popular Toyota Prius for a large share in Hybrid segment.
