Honda Accord Hybrid launched in India at Rs 37 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)

Honda Cars India has launched the next-generation Accord Hybrid in India at Rs 37 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. Honda had stopped the production of the Accord in 2013, due to low sales volume. Earlier, the luxury sedan was available only with a 2.4 litre four-cylinder and a 3.5 litre V6 engine.

The Japanese car manufacturer has downsized the engine in wake of stringent environment and emission norms. Hence, the new generation Accord is offered with an efficient 2.0 litre Atkinson cycle, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol that develops 143 hp of power at 6,200 rpm and 175Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The electric motor and battery are based on Honda's Earth Dream technology and comprises of a 1.3kWh lithium-ion battery and generates a maximum power of about 182 hp and 315Nm of torque.

The total output produced by a naturally aspirated and a hybrid motor is rated at 215 hp, paired to an e-CVT gearbox. The Accord Hybrid delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.1 km/l. The next-generation Accord also gets different automatic driving modes – EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive along with selectable driving modes - Sport, EV and ECON modes.

Honda has launched the Accord Hybrid with a host of equipment, both at the exterior and in the cabin. The exterior gets LED headlamps with daytime running lamps, adaptive cornering lights, a chrome garnished slat at the front, LED fog lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels and hill start assist.

Inside the cabin, the new Accord Hybrid gets features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, 8-way power adjustable driver seat and 4-ways power adjustable co-driver seat, infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and auto dimming inner rear view mirror. Adding to the convenience and luxury are electrically-operated sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, remote pre-cooling and pre-heating cabin and cruise control, emergency stop signal, multi-view camera, front and rear parking sensors and start/stop function.

As far as safety is concerned, the carmaker has also equipped the sedan with both active and passive safety features including 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, traction control and lane watch assist.

The new Honda Accord is available in a choice of four body colours, namely Orchid White Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic and Lunar Silver Metallic. The company is also offering a standard 3 year warranty/unlimited kilometres with roadside assistance, Hybrid battery warranty of 5 years and extended warranty on roadside assistance as well as on standard warranty.
