Ford motors is likely to launch a pothole warning system in future cars

In order to make safe cars, Ford Motors is working on a pothole warning system that is designed to identify potholes on roads. The system also warns the driver to help major accident that occurs every year due to bad road conditions.

This detection system communicates with the navigation system which gives real-time data to the driver. Engineers at Ford are researching on the use of cameras and embedded modems at the Ford Research and Innovation Centre in Aachen, Germany. The data will be used to gather detailed information on the potholes and beam it up to the cloud where it can be made available to other drivers in real time.

Currently, in the International market, the automaker already offers onboard sensors for Continuously Controlled Damping with Pothole Mitigation in models like the Galaxy, Mondeo and the S-MAX. This system detects potholes using sensors while adjusting the suspension to help reduce any potential damage.

Ford is also working on an active suspension system that will reduce the effects of bumps and rough roads to both the passengers and car.

The company has great portfolio of cars in India some of the popular models being - Mustang, Ecosport and Endeavour.
