Ford to recall Figo and aspire in India to fix software issue in the Restraint Control Module (RCM)

Ford India is recalling 42,300 units of the Figo and Figo Aspire models due to a software issue in Restraint Control Module (RCM) that could result in malfunctioning of airbags during a collision.

The recall applies to all Figo and Aspire models manufactured at the new plant in Sanand in western Gujarat. Ford dealerships will carry out a software upgrade on all the affected cars, at no extra cost.

Recently, Ford dealers across India have suspended bookings of the Figo and Figo Aspire due to this reason. Both cars were launched last year in the Indian market at very aggressive prices.

According to an official statement, Ford India is working on software upgrade on cars which are in stock with Ford dealers. Company did not clarify if the software error affects only in domestic sales or exports from the plant as well.
