Force Motors inaugurates new engine plant in Chakan(Pune) for Mercedes Benz India

Force Motors India today inaugurated its brand new engine plant at Chakan (Pune), an investment of Rs 100 crore to supply engines and axles to Mercedes-Benz India. The company has been providing engine and others spares to Mercedes-Benz cars in the country since 1997.

Chakan plant is spread over 1,30,000 square feet and can assemble up to 14 engines in four-cylinder and V6 configurations. The current annual capacity of this plant is 20,000 engines and 20,000 front and rear axles. This new facility was formally inaugurated by Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar.

Thus far, Force Motors has supplied over 60,000 engines and 50,000 axles to Mercedes-Benz India plant. This facility, built with an investment of Rs 100 crore, is part of a Rs 700 crore commitment from Force Motors to Mercedes-Benz, which will be invested over the upcoming years.

According to Prasan Firodia, the inauguration of the plant marks a significant step in their 45-year long association with Mercedes-Benz. The association with Mercedes-Benz India Car Plant alone spans over 19 years and has helped establish the company’s strength as a preferred supplier of critical and high precision aggregates to leading European Luxury Brands. This new plant will help Force Motors be more flexible in terms of the production capacity demands and will enable them to continue to produce engines and axles to the exacting standards expected by Mercedes-Benz globally.
