Checking authenticity of a used car just got easier. You can now check its authenticity by sending an SMS. The road transport and highway ministry has issued a helpline number 7738299899 for this purpose which will be available all over India.

The helpline number can be used by government authorities as well. The number combined with a new web-enabled application will facilitate to trace history of a used car from its date of registration. The enforcement authorities can also use the app to check whether the license, which they consider is of dubious origin, is genuine or not. The best part about the initiative is that all this information is available free of cost and will come handy to many.
