BMW launched its second generation SUV X1 at Auto Expo in India at a price of Rs 29.9 – 39.9 Lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). It will be available in diesel for now, with petrol option to be introduced in second half of the year.

The new X1 is 4,439mm in length, 1,821mm in width and 1,598mm in height, which makes it 36mm shorter, 21mm wider and 53mm taller than its predecessor. Its wheelbase is also increased by 90mm with increased cabin space and upgraded overall interior with latest technology and material. 

The X1 power line will have 2.0 L diesel motor producing a power of 189bhp. It will be mated with eight-speed automatic gearbox and an xDrive AWD (All Wheel Drive). The more compact transverse engine layout has improved safety credentials in the car. It will likely compete with Mercedes-Benz GLA and Audi Q3 in Indian market.
