Hyundai has launched all new Verna in India at a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh,(ex-showroom, Delhi). It is offered in four numbers of variants, with two engine and gearbox options as well as four new colour options.

Interestingly, the company says that this pricing is applicable only for the first 20,000 customers in India, after which there will be a price revision and the Verna, could get more expensive. The model was first unveiled globally in China last year and has been one of the most anticipated models ever since.

The new Hyundai Verna gets a host of new features as compared to the outgoing model and according to the South Korean manufacturer; they are looking at sales of about 4,500 units per month and is aiming to deliver about 10,000 units of the Hyundai Verna before Diwali.

The new Verna gets two engine options - a 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.6-litre diesel. The petrol engine builds 123PS of power at 6400rpm and 151Nm of torque at 4850rpm, whereas the diesel engine turn out 128PS of power at 4000rpm and 260Nm of torque from 1500rpm all the way up to 3000rpm. Both engines are mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The updated Verna obtains segment-first features that are not obtainable on its competitors similar to the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Rapid. The new features include front-ventilated seats and rear curtains. The Verna now acquires an eco coating that controls and eliminates foul smell if any from the cabin. The advanced variants are equipped with features like six airbags, rear parking sensors, rear parking camera and cruise control.

The new Verna is based on the Hyundai's Fluidic design language philosophy, same as the Hyundai Elantra. The fifth generation Verna also uses the company's new K2 platform ?super body structure?, which makes use of 50 percent superior high-strength steel. The new platform improves the performance and enhances the safety of the vehicle as the new chassis has undergone structural changes. 

The exterior of refreshed 2017 Verna features a cascade design front grille, projector headlamps with LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps), an electric sunroof, projector fog lamps with chrome surrounds and two-piece LED tail lamps.
