2017 Land Rover Discovery to launch in October

Land Rover is setting up to launch the 2017 Discovery in India in October. It will be one of the 10 Jaguar and Land Rover cars to be launched here, this year.

The new Discovery is built around a new aluminium-infused platform. This has helped the Discovery shed weight, making it lighter than its predecessor, despite the bigger dimensions. Powering the Discovery would be the latest Ingenium series of four-cylinder engines, with a six-cylinder unit thrown in for those looking for better performance.

From Inside, there have been numerous changes implemented like the inclusion of high quality materials and finishes and dual-tone scheme with plenty of high-tech features. The intelligent seat fold technology allows for passengers to configure the second and third row seats as part of the InControl Touch Pro Services via a smartphone app or by other means.

The full-sized SUV is based on a lightweight architecture claimed to facilitate superior comfort. The significant weight reduction due to clever manufacturing process and the lighter platform meant the new Discovery has shed about 480 kilograms.

The Discovery will be imported as a fully built unit, with a price tag on the range of Rs 1 crore. The launch of the new Discovery will be followed by the Range Rover Velar. It will rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW X5, Volvo XC90 and the Audi Q7.
