Jaguar has launched the second-generation XF sedan in India, with prices starting at Rs 49.5 lakh for the base Pure trim with diesel engine going up to Rs 62.10 lakh for the top-spec diesel Portfolio trim. The company has announced that deliveries for the new Jaguar XF will commence from the end of September 2016 and customers can now book the car right now for a token amount of 5 lakh.
The new XF comes with a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium diesel engine capable of producing 177hp and 430Nm of torque. On the other hand, a 2.0-litre petrol engine, which produces 237hp and 340Nm of torque is standard on the Prestige and Portfolio trims. Both the engines come mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels.
Jaguar XF's new lightweight aluminium architecture contributes towards a weight saving of up to 190 kg over the previous generation XF. As far as dimensions are concerned, the new-gen XF is 7mm shorter and 3mm lower than its predecessor but the wheelbase has increased by 51mm, thanks to the new platform. There is also an increase in the legroom and the knee room by 15mm and 24mm respectively. The headroom too goes up by 27mm at the rear. The weight distribution too is 50:50, which Jaguar says, has the ideal balance between ride and handling.
The Company has also equipped the new XF with ‘Jaguar Drive Control’, which allows one to select between four driving modes - Standard, Eco, Dynamic or Rain/Ice/Snow.
In features, the Pure trim gets an eight-inch touch screen, 17-inch alloys, bi-functional Xenon headlamps and electronically-adjustable front seats. In addition to the Pure trim features, the carmaker offers perforated leather seats, and a memory function for the driver seat and steering wheel in the Prestige trim. The Portfolio trim gets a larger 10.2-inch touch screen with InControl Touch Pro, 18-inch wheels and 14-way adjustable electric front seats among other features.
